A PR video project designed to showcase the charms of Katsuragi City in Nara Prefecture—considered the birthplace of sumo—to the world.
Videos were produced around three distinct themes: “Katsuragi City: The Birthplace of Sumo,” “The History of Sumo,” and “Memorable Matches and Epic Battles.” From its complex historical background to the city’s contemporary appeal, the content was optimized for a global audience through multilingual distribution.
The videos directly bridge the depth of traditional culture with the city’s appeal as a modern tourist destination through visual storytelling.
Takeuchi Kaido and Yokooji
A revitalization project for the Takeuchi Kaidō and Yokōdōri (Ōdō)—Japan’s oldest official roads, constructed during the reign of Empress Suiko. We developed a logo symbolizing the continuity of history and created an official website to accurately convey the roads’ value to domestic and international travelers. In addition to the Japanese version, we localized the site into English and Traditional Chinese to enhance its global reach. We connected the charms of the municipalities along the route—where 1,400 years of history come alive—through a single narrative, designing a foundation for a new, region-wide tourism initiative.
Contract for the Provision of Tourism Information for Foreign Visitors to Kochi Prefecture
For four years, I was comprehensively responsible for content creation, management, and overseas promotion for Kochi Prefecture’s official website for international visitors (visitkochijapan.com).
Drawing on the perspectives of native speakers from diverse nationalities, I communicated the appeal of Kochi’s nature, cuisine, and history through writing and video content that reflected the cultural context, thereby building a robust digital platform. Furthermore, I implemented a multi-dimensional cross-media strategy integrated with in-person events, including inviting Taiwanese media representatives and placing advertisements in international magazines. By optimizing (localizing) “Kochi’s unique value” to meet the expectations of fans in each country, I made a significant contribution to the sustained growth of inbound tourism.
WAR ROBOTS
Localization of Pixonic’s robot action game *War Robots*—which has surpassed 150 million downloads worldwide—for the Japanese and South Korean markets.
Beyond simply translating from English to Japanese and Korean, we redesigned visual assets such as promotional videos, app icons for app stores, and screenshots to align with the culture and preferences of each market.
Based on user insights from each market, we optimized the prioritization of information and visual tone to help maximize the game’s presence in each region without diminishing the appeal of this global IP.
Symphonic Rain
To coincide with the release of the HD remaster of Kogado Studio’s landmark title *Symphonic Rain*, we created a multilingual official website. Our goal went beyond simply translating information; we aimed to recreate the serene atmosphere of a city where the rain never stops and the captivating allure of the game’s iconic music on digital devices.
Across a wide range of languages—including English, Traditional Chinese, Simplified Chinese, Russian, Vietnamese, and Korean—we meticulously designed the typography for each language to ensure it did not detract from the overall design. Through advanced localization, we created a website that allows fans around the world to deeply immerse themselves in the game’s world.
YAMATO
We collaborated with Dentsu Kansai to produce a 92-page tourism brochure for Sakurai City, Nara Prefecture—a place closely associated with the Yamato Imperial Court and boasting Japan’s oldest history. The brochure showcases highly specialized historical and cultural resources, such as the Eleven-Faced Kannon at Shorin-ji Temple, Mount Miwa, and Hase-dera Temple, in six languages: Japanese, English, French, Korean, Simplified Chinese, and Traditional Chinese. We provided comprehensive direction throughout the entire process—from design that captured the project’s intent to translations that delved into the cultural contexts of each target country, and high-quality print management. Going beyond mere translation of information, we have achieved a sophisticated brand communication strategy that presents Sakurai City’s value as the “source of Japanese culture” to the world.
The Lands of Yoshino, Koya, and Kumano
A region-wide promotional campaign commemorating the 15th anniversary of the inscription of the World Heritage site “Sacred Sites and Pilgrimage Routes in the Kii Mountain Range,” which spans the three prefectures of Mie, Nara, and Wakayama. We created this campaign in both Japanese and English to showcase the charm of these sacred sites with their timeless history and the pilgrimage routes where prayer still thrives today. Through B1-sized posters and detailed tourism brochures, we visually translate and convey to travelers worldwide the mystical landscapes of the Kii Mountains and the magnificent stories shaped by the lives of its people.
IZANAU
I was responsible for the launch, planning, and branding of “IZANAU,” an information portal that comprehensively provides information on working, living, and daily life in Japan for foreign residents and visitors, as well as highly skilled foreign professionals.
I managed the entire process—from developing the concept of connecting Japan with the world to designing the logo and creating the initial UI/UX design. I established a brand identity that struck a balance between “trustworthiness” and “approachability that conveys the appeal of Japan” for a multinational target audience, thereby contributing to the development of the service’s foundation.
CROSS HORIZON
We produced a promotional trailer for the action RPG *CROSS HORIZON*, developed by Marvelous Inc.
We brought to life the game’s rich, dark fantasy world—where swords and magic intertwine—and its exhilarating battle action driven by intuitive controls by blending in-game footage with dynamic visual effects.
We provided consistent direction for both the Japanese and English versions, directly translating and delivering the game’s dramatic experience to players around the world.
Playism
I led the launch of “PLAYISM,” Japan’s first indie game publishing platform, overseeing every stage of the brand-building process.
During the early days, when the term “indie game” had not yet gained widespread recognition in Japan, I championed the mission of bringing individual creativity to the world. I took a holistic approach, overseeing everything from the development of the corporate identity (logo and brand identity) to the platform’s UI/UX, promotional videos, and the direction of large-scale events.
